Welcome
to lesliechin.com
My
name is
Leslie
R. Chin.
I am a singer, guitarist, songwriter and liturgical musician born in
1937 in Jamaica, West Indies and now residing in Scarborough, Ontario
Canada. I've been married to Carmen Chin since 1959 with
three sons, two daughters, four grandsons and five
granddaughters.
A
retired banker having worked at major banks in Jamaica for 22 years and
Toronto for 18 years, I am actively involved in volunteer work with Friends of the
Poor (Canada) Inc.,
a registered charity that supports missions for the poor in Jamaica,
Haiti, India, Kenya, Philippines and Uganda. I am also
involved with the North York
(Toronto) Y’s Men’s Club, the
service club of the North York YMCA.
I serve as lector and liturgical musician at my church, St. Bartholomew
Catholic Church where my wife also serves as Eucharistic minister.
Before coming to Toronto in 1976, I served as liturgical musician,
lector and prayer cell coordinator at Sts. Peter & Paul Church
in Kingston, Jamaica.
My
hobbies and interests are music (singing, guitar playing and
songwriting) and golf. I have been a liturgical musician for
over 35 years and I obtained my golf teaching certificate in 1995.
I
am presently involved in ministering to the bereaved through my music
and by offering support by helping with the planning of funeral
arrangements including mass, visitation service and
burial. This ministry has led me to a keen interest in
songwriting, resulting in the production of my new CD in 2007, "Faith, Hope
and Love",
a collection of songs of worship and meditation.
So
welcome to my website,
where you will find information about me, my music, my ministry and
more. I wish you all peace, love and happiness in your daily lives and
hope you come back and visit often.
Regards,
Les
